Agentic Inbox · Setup guide

Your inbox, in the conversation.

Let your assistant read and search your mailbox, summarize email, and prepare replies. Sign in to your own mailbox through webmail to connect. You review and approve every email before it is sent.

  1. 1

    Add FranklyMail to Claude

Open Connectors, choose “Add custom connector” and name it FranklyMail. Paste the connection address below.

    https://franklymail.com/api/agent/mcp
    Open Claude

Your assistant's plan or workspace settings may require an administrator to add a connection.

  2. 2

Sign in to your own mailbox

Claude opens a FranklyMail permission screen. Continue through webmail, confirm your mailbox address, then choose “Allow connection”. Only that mailbox is shared. Your password stays with FranklyMail.

  3. 3

Return to Claude and start a conversation

If a browser page says “Authentication complete”, close that tab and return to your assistant app. You do not need to connect again. Enable FranklyMail in your chat and ask “Check my Spam folder” or “Forward Alice’s message to Sam”. Review any draft using its approval link before sending.

Your active connection appears at the top of Agentic Inbox.

Early access uses a custom connection. FranklyMail is not yet listed in the assistants' public directories. No API key, terminal or environment file is needed.

Try your first conversation

“Summarize the unread messages in my support inbox.”

“Find Alice’s email about our next meeting.”

“Check my Spam folder for a missing message.”

“Forward Alice’s last email to sam@example.com and let me review it.”

“Draft a reply confirming Tuesday. Let me review it before sending.”

Every send needs your approval

  1. Your assistant prepares a draft and shows it in the conversation. Nothing is sent.
  2. Open the draft’s review link and sign in to the same mailbox if asked. FranklyMail shows the sender, every recipient, the subject and the complete message. Edit the recipients, subject or message directly and save your changes if needed.
  3. Confirm you have reviewed it, then select Approve & send. After an edit, review the saved version and confirm again.

The approval is tied to that exact version. Editing a draft requires another review. Saying “approved” in chat alone cannot send an email. You can also find pending drafts in Agentic Inbox. Drafts expire after 24 hours.

“Submitted” means the mail server accepted the message, not that the recipient received it. If sending status is uncertain, check Sent in webmail before preparing another copy. FranklyMail does not automatically retry it.

A final polish, before you send

With Mailbox Boost, use Write with AI on the review page to refine the tone, shorten a reply or translate it. Choose a suggestion, save your changes, then review and approve that version. Your writing allowance is shared with webmail.

You can also select Track opens before saving. Delivery and open activity appear in webmail after sending. For several recipients, the shared signal means one of them opened it; privacy settings can hide or simulate opens.

Choose what you share

Each connection grants access to exactly the mailbox verified through webmail. Your management account cannot grant access for coworkers. An invitation is a public setup link, not a sign-in credential. The assistant receives email content when you use the connection, under that assistant’s privacy settings. You choose the assistant used by the connection. The optional Write with AI feature on the FranklyMail review page uses OpenAI after your consent.

Connections last up to 90 days. Disconnecting takes effect immediately, including pending drafts. Existing resource keys retain their original metadata permissions; reconnect through the sign-in flow to grant email access.

This release supports message headers, bounded plain-text content, folder-specific search (including Spam/Junk, Sent, Trash and custom folders), and plain-text replies, forwards or new drafts with To and Cc recipients. Forwards include the original headers and readable text. If a message has attachments, use webmail to include them or explicitly choose a text-only forward. Incomplete or oversized originals must be forwarded in webmail. It does not download attachments, send attachments, use Bcc, delete mail or send automatically. Reading does not mark a message as read. Drafts are held in Agentic Inbox; sent messages appear in webmail.

25 requests a day to get started

Standard access shares 25 daily requests and 5 per minute for each mailbox, shared across its connected assistants. Each boosted mailbox has 2,500 daily requests and 60 per minute. Reading, searching and working with drafts use the same allowance across connections.

Daily allowances reset at midnight UTC. If a limit is reached, your assistant receives the reset time. Standard limits include a Mailbox Boost link. Your manual review and approval do not use the agent allowance.

For teams

The administrator can enable access, send invitations and disconnect assistants from team settings. Each mailbox user gives permission and reviews their own drafts. Disabling access revokes current connections; enabling it again requires users to reconnect.

This feature verifies access to a mailbox, not a separate employee identity. Anyone who has its working credentials can connect it, including a shared mailbox user. Existing administrator password reset and mailbox export permissions are unchanged. Independent employee sign-in and delegated shared mailbox access are not part of this release.

Connection help

The assistant asks for an address
Use https://franklymail.com/api/agent/mcp and OAuth authentication. FranklyMail handles sign-in; no API key or password goes into chat.
I see “Authentication complete” after connecting
Sign-in has finished. Close that browser tab and return to the assistant app where you started, such as ChatGPT desktop. A local completion page belongs to that app. You can check the active connection at the top of Agentic Inbox; no second connection is needed.
I need to connect a different mailbox
Sign out of Agentic Inbox, switch to that mailbox in webmail, then start a separate connection from your assistant. Each mailbox must be authenticated separately.
The connector option is unavailable
Your assistant's plan or workspace policy may require administrator access. Public directory installation is not available yet. See the ChatGPT connection guide or Claude connection guide.
