Connect FranklyMail with JMAP
Connect your mail app to FranklyMail with JMAP. Use the server details below, your full mailbox email address and an app password. If automatic discovery fails, enter the details manually.
Connect with JMAP
If automatic setup fails, enter the server URL below. If your app asks for a session URL, use the full session URL instead. The main franklymail.com website is not the JMAP server.
- Server URL
https://jmap.franklymail.com- Session URL
https://jmap.franklymail.com/jmap/session- Discovery URL
https://jmap.franklymail.com/.well-known/jmap- Nombre de usuario
- Your full mailbox email address
- Contraseña
- Create an app password for this mailbox under Settings → App passwords. Use it in your mail app, rather than your dashboard password or an API key.
JMAP uses HTTPS on port 443 for receiving and sending mail. No separate SMTP setup is needed in a JMAP client.
Already using https://mx1.franklymail.com for JMAP? Your existing settings remain supported. No changes are needed.
Antes de empezar.
Dos cosas, y ambas vienen del panel FranklyMail en lugar de JMAP en sí.
- Your full mailbox email address, for example you@yourdomain.com.
- An app password for that mailbox. Create one under Settings → App passwords in the FranklyMail dashboard. Your dashboard password and dashboard API keys are not mailbox credentials.
Paso a paso.
Use the fields your JMAP client requests. Labels vary between apps.
- 1
Abierto your mail app and add an account. If automatic discovery fails, choose its manual server setup option. Labels vary between apps.
- 2
Enter https://jmap.franklymail.com as the server URL. If the app asks for a full session URL, enter https://jmap.franklymail.com/jmap/session.
The discovery URL is https://jmap.franklymail.com/.well-known/jmap. It redirects to the session URL.
- 3
Enter your full mailbox email address as the username and the app password created for that mailbox as the password.
- 4
Connect and let the mailbox sync. JMAP handles both receiving and sending, so there is no separate SMTP configuration.
What is JMAP and how does it work with FranklyMail?
JMAP is an open standard that lets an email app read, organize, sync and send messages through an HTTPS connection. Your app and webmail access the same mailbox, so you can use a compatible JMAP client alongside FranklyMail webmail.
With IMAP, a mail app normally uses a separate SMTP connection to send messages. JMAP supports mail submission as part of the protocol, so a JMAP client does not need separate incoming and outgoing server settings. FranklyMail serves JMAP over HTTPS on port 443.
FranklyMail JMAP server, session URL and automatic discovery
The server URL is https://jmap.franklymail.com. Use it when your client asks for the server address. A client that asks for a session URL needs https://jmap.franklymail.com/jmap/session instead.
The standard discovery address, https://jmap.franklymail.com/.well-known/jmap, redirects to the session endpoint. Once authenticated, the session tells your client which URLs to use for mailbox requests, attachments and updates.
Automatic discovery can fail when a client starts from your custom email domain. Enter the FranklyMail mail server manually in that case. The main franklymail.com website is the account dashboard and public site; it is not the JMAP endpoint.
Use a mailbox app password for JMAP login
Create an app password under Settings → App passwords in your FranklyMail dashboard, selecting the mailbox you want to connect. Give the password a name that identifies the app, then copy it into that app with the full mailbox address as the username.
A separate password for each app lets you revoke access for one client without changing the credentials used by your other clients. Your dashboard sign-in password and dashboard API keys do not authenticate a JMAP mailbox connection.
Connecting Ltt.rs to FranklyMail
If Ltt.rs cannot discover your account, try its manual setup with the server URL above and your mailbox credentials. If the field requests a session URL, use the full session URL. These are the FranklyMail connection details; the complete Ltt.rs login flow has not yet been verified by FranklyMail.
If connecting still fails, contact support with your Ltt.rs version, the exact error and the URL field you filled in. Do not include your password. The troubleshooting section below also covers login failures and missing alias identities.
Si no funciona.
- Automatic discovery fails or franklymail.com returns an error.
- Use manual setup with https://jmap.franklymail.com. The main website is not the JMAP server. If a session URL is requested, use https://jmap.franklymail.com/jmap/session.
- The server is found but login fails.
- Use the complete mailbox address and an app password belonging to that mailbox. Check that the password has not been revoked. Do not use your dashboard login or an API key.
- The session URL shows empty accounts in a browser.
- That is the anonymous discovery response. Your mail app needs to authenticate before the session includes your mailbox.
- A newly added alias is missing from the sending identities.
- Aliases added after JMAP identities have been created may not appear automatically. Contact support if an alias is missing.
- Manual setup still fails.
- Send the app name, version and exact error to hello@franklymail.com. Include which URL field you used, but never send your password.
